About Us |

| Our Setup: | |
|
There are
currently three 10 gallon breeding tanks, two 10 gallon community tanks,
and one 20 gallon community tank for young frys. The breeding tanks are
constantly being used to spawn. Right now we are keeping our bettas in
individual jars, however a betta barrack is in our future
plans.
We are
limiting our spawns to three tanks simply because of time restraints.
Having too many spawns at one time can lead to lack of attention and
improper care. We have always believed that quality does override
quantity. The tank above is from the first melano spawn. The water level had been lowered to only half of the tank. A brine shrimp hatchery is also placed inside the tank.

A basic community tank could simply be set up
with a 10-20 gallon tank with sand or gravel, air pump, filter, and lots
of plants for coverage.
This
tank can used as a community for all your fishes. I usually keep my
females and small frys in a community tank. Be sure to add plenty of
plants in your community tank for coverage. |

|
Typically, when a baby fry reaches the age of 3 months, they are separated into their own jars. We use one gallon bowls or jars for male juveniles. Females placed in community tanks. Males are separated in jars and kept away from other males to prevent them from fighting. I place a piece of cardboard or paper between each jar so they can not see each other. Doing so will keep them at bliss and they will not tire themselves out by flaring at each other. |

|
There are many ways to display your bettas in jars or in tanks. In one
of my tanks I use a divider for a 10 gallon tank. The tank is divided so
three male bettas can accompany the same tank.
The
tank is currently divided into 3 sections. More divisions can be added
to the tank. Be sure, however, that each betta get at least 1 gallon of
water for themselves. |

| Personal Info: | |
I have been
raising bettas ever since the age of 16. My first betta was
a long finned purple male. My brothers and I have raised bettas as a
hobby for fun and enjoyment. However, my first successful spawn inspired
me to continue raising bettas. Eventually I started spawning different
types of bettas (double tails, round tails, and plakats). As you can see
on this website, I have focused my concentration on plakat bettas. For
me, their aggressive nature and diligent speed make them much more
attractive.
![]() Currently my brother is doing all the spawning and training of the bettas, as I have a very busy schedule with work and school and can not find time tend to them. Right now all the bettas on stock are raised and bred in Wausau, WI. If you wish you can contact me by email: VangBettas or by phone at 608.215.8580. |
