The striking photos show the beautiful creatures captured in all their beauty with their long flowing fins and vibrant colourful scales.

The pictures were taken by photographer Visarute Angkatavanich who created the astonishing pictures using a range of lighting techniques.

Mr Angkatavanich put the fish in crystal clear water before taking the pictures, helping to bring out the vivid array of colours on their scales.

I had forgotten how beautiful they are and I thought it would be a great project to try and capture this beauty in one single moment

He decided to take the series of shots after recalling fond memories of keeping siamese fighting fish as a child.

He said: "I was walking in a pet market one day and I happened to notice the bettafish I used to keep when I was young.

"I had forgotten how beautiful they are and I thought it would be a great project to try and capture this beauty in one single moment.
